Imigration was a key factor in shaping the Scontrone we know today. Only a handful of historic writings have been found that describe the town's past. One text states that at the end of the 19th century Scontrone boasted 1,100 people and 1,400 animals. Evidentally this was still not enough to support everyone. This lack of resources combined with two world wars drove people to migrate to different countries. The peak periods of migration were around the World I and II and in the 1960s and 70s.

During the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th many Italians found new homes in Argentina, Canada, Australia and the U.S. From 1945 and on, America became the number one destination for Scontrone inhabitants. They arrived at the port of Ellis Island in droves, all with same vision - to live and succeed the American dream.
