How to Get Here
Scontrone is situated between the state highways 17 and 83, 1km from the train station on the Sulmona-Carpinone line and 5 km from Castel di Sangro where the buses from Naples, Pescara, and Rome arrive. 60 km away you will find the toll both entrance to the state highways A 25 from Sulmona-Pratola Peliga and the A 1 from San Vittore for Rome and from Caianello for Napoli. The easiest way to get here is by car.
Arriving by Car
Coming from the A 1 highway:
From Rome: Exit at San Vittore
From Naples: Exit at Caianello, follow the signs for Pescara - Roccaraso - Castel di Sangro. When you reach the intersection of the State roads 17 and 83, turn left towards
Alfedena - Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo and after only 2 km you will find on your right the turn off for Villa Scontrone. To reach the hill top village of Scontrone you may either go through the town of Villa Scontrone or continue towards Alfedena where after 2 more km you will find, on your right, the entrance to Scontrone.
Coming on the A 24 from either Rome or Pescara:
Exit at Sulmona-Pratola Peligna and follow the signs for Roccaraso. When you have passed Castel di Sangro (on your right) continue until the intersection of the state roads 17 and 83. Turn right. After 2 km you will find the entrance for Villa Scontrone and after 2 more km you will find the entrance to Scontrone.
Arriving by Plane
The closest international airports to Scontrone are located in Rome, Naples and Pescara. People generally fly into Rome.

Arriving
by Train
There is no direct train route to Scontrone. You must first arrive in Isernia or Sulmona which are easily accessible. You can get to Isernia coming from either Naples or Rome and to Sulmona from Rome or Pescara. From Isernia or Sulmona you can either arrive in Alfedena-Scontrone (2 km from town) or Castel di Sangro (5 km from town). It is recommended to arrive in Scontrone by way of Castel di Sangro because trains are more frequent there. Castel di Sangro is a 10 minute drive away. There is a bus that runs generally twice a day to and from Castel di Sangro that will take you to Scontrone. It's best to just call someone in Scontrone and have them pick you up. It's a only a ten minute drive and not asking too much. Italians are quite hospitable.

Arriving by Bus
There are several daily bus lines between Naples and Pescara that pass through Castel di Sangro where you will need to get off. Feriali means "daily"; festivi means "Sundays and holidays". These schedules change seasonally so it is a good idea to double and triple check them while planning your trips. When looking at the times, keep in mind that Italians use military time.
