Sculptures

The above sculpture, located in the central piazza of Scontrone, was created in 1989 by Anna Maria Baratto and is dedicated to fallen soldiers all over the world.
About Anna Maria Baratto
Anna Maria Baratto native of Rome, studied at the Academy of Fine Art in Rome. Among some of her teachers were Enzo Greco, Renato Gattuso, Virgilio Guzzi, and Toti Scialoja. She began her career in the 1970s as a costume and set designer.
She is considered a Roman proponent of the so called "cultural painting". Baratto has participated in over 200 personal exhibitions public and private all over the world. In 1988, she was winner of an art contest in Salina making her mural the biggest in Europe. In 1989, she became involved in furnishing local urban cityscapes with marble works and won various awards for these masterpieces.
She is the founder and president of the "Akkademia dei Prossimali di Roma" - an international center for the promotion of Art and Nature. Currently, Baratto is a professor of Art History at Virgilio High School in Rome.
