Sister Cities
Our vision is to promote in every way possible the development and deepening of friendly international relations and world wide cooperation. Considering the Sister City relationship to be an effective means of people’s diplomacy, the Mayor of the Village of Cambridge and the Mayor of the City of Scontrone (hereinafter “The Sisters”), on behalf of their respective local governments and citizens, agree as follow:
1. To carry out reciprocal regular activities aimed at learning about the life, history, culture, traditions and habits of the The Sisters, involving broad sections of the public, cultural, educational and other local institutions and organizations as well as mass media.
2. To promote establishment of two-sided business contacts and mutually beneficial economic and trade cooperation.
3. To exchange experience and ideas in the fields of local self-government, sustainable development, agritourism, historic preservation and other mutual interests of The Sisters.
4. To realize by common consent exchanges of delegation of officials, specialists, consultants, artists, sportsmen, youth and representatives of non-government organizations that promote the exchange of our cultures and strengthen the bond of The Sisters.
5. To encourage tourist exchanges between The Sisters and promote positive, welcoming experiences for visitors.
6. To exchange information about activities, achieved results and problems being solved.
7. To hold a yearly celebration in honor of this Sister City relationship.
Two authentic copies of this Sister City Agreement have been prepared in English and Italian. This agreement can only be modified by common consent of the The Sisters.
This Sister City Agreement is hereby signed in Cambridge, New York on the 17th day of September in the year 2004 and will come into force from this day forward.
